Do I need to bring pencil and paper or anything else to the ProZone consultation?
No the consultations are designed to get you into the Zone and give you an understanding of how and why it works.You are given our book that is your reference material. Although it is usually not necessary, you are welcome to make notes if you wish.
Does Zone Nutrition mean that I will never be able to eat my favourite foods and have to worry about special occasions?
It is important that you do not feel that you can never eat certain things again or never go out and eat and drink what you want at times. Dr Sear's has a wonderful saying : "You are only one meal away from the Zone". This means that after you eat out of the Zone you simply get back in with your next meal so you pick up where you left off and get back to all the benefits.
How are Kevin's "before and after" photos any different from all the ones that we see for all the other weight loss companies?
We cannot speak for the other companies involved with health and weight loss. However the important thing about the photos is that since Kevin completed the loss of 23 kilos in the latter part of 1997 he has easily maintained his ideal weight for the following years to the present time. This is the important thing about our programme. It is designed as an enjoyable and easy permanent lifestyle of eating and good health.
How do the majority of people who attend your consultations get to hear about you?
Approximately 80% of people who attend our consultations have seen the results of a friend or associate who has previuosly seen us or have been referred to us by their doctor. We rely on word of mouth recommendations for our consultations.
How good is your guarantee of free ongoing help, support and advice if I need it.
We have been in business since November 1998 and the success of our business depends on satisfied customers. We also have a passionate interest in sharing the gift of the Zone with as many people as we can. We are personally interested in the success of all our clients.
How is ProZone's progamme any different than all the rest?

I have read Dr Barry Sear's books, how can you help me?
Many of the people who choose our consultations have read Dr Sear's books but may have had problems understanding the concepts or found the food and weights very American and a bit confusing. At the consultation we use our Block Builder to very simply explain how the Zone works and how you can modify your current meals. Clients can ask any questions or address specific concerns during the consultation. The ProZone book is written specifically for New Zealand and Australian conditions using our food and weights etc.
I read that Kevin is a trained hypnotherapist. Am I likely to need hypnotherapy?
It is extremely unlikely. Many people think that they have food problems but discover that when they reduce their carbohydrate consumption and eat their food in balance they have no problems with food at all. There are a very small number of people who have real emotional problems with food and these people can often be helped with hypnotherapy.
If the Heart Foundation?s and Health department?s etc advice including the ?Healthy? Pyramid so wrong why do they persist with it?
They are now increasingly having to modify their advice. A large section of the community realises that a high carbohydrate low fat diet does not work. Indeed a lot of current research is showing the low fat, high carbohydrate diet is not as beneficial to weight loss or health as lower carbohydrate diets higher in healthy fats. What is more important than all the arguments or theories is how it affects you. We are confident that within a few days of eating in the Zone you will know that it works for you.
If you claim that your programme is designed to use "real" food why do you sell a lot of packaged products and are any items compulsory?
We teach and encourage you how to eat in Zone with ordinary supermarket food. However many of our clients are busy people who mostly eat ordinary food but want the convenience of balanced snacks when they are on the go. To meet these demands we stock convenient Zone balanced products such as ZonePerfect Nutrition bars and Dr Sears low glycaemic cereal from the USA. Although they are very popular and convenient you do not have to buy any of the items that we sell. The products can be very usefulwhen attending meetings or travelling and in fact we find them cheaper than hotel breakfasts or fast food meals. Some people are happy just knowing that they have a simple portable balanced snack on hand or use them in situations they may perhaps buy less favourable food.
One product that is very useful and certainly allows you to prepare a wide variety of balanced snacks when mixed with ordinary food items is our own brand protein powder. This is a natural food product prepared in New Zealand from milk. It is in fact just like buying any other food item.
If you are interested in taking supplements or want to get the full health benefits from your Zone eating lifestyle the one supplement we recommend above all others is highly purified omega-3 fish oil capsules. This is only a recommendation, you can certainly burn fat and get some of the other Zone benefits without buying anything from us after your consultation or receiving your starter pack.
Is it easy to do?
Because it is probably different from all the concepts that you are familiar with like counting calories and drastically reducing dietary fat etc you need to give some thought to what you are doing for the first few days but it soon becomes automatic. We recommend that before you get started you use your seminar book to plan your meals for a few days ahead. This may require a bit of effort but you will be setting up a rewarding eating plan for the rest of your life. All the recipes in our book are very easy to prepare and 90% of them are very quick to prepare. We produce most of our Zone main meals in 10 to 15 minutes. Snacks and quick lunches may only take a few minutes or less. We show you how to modify your own recipes and make up new ones.
Is it safe for diabetics?
Diabetics benefit dramatically from eating in the Zone. Because we show you how to eat to lower your blood sugar you need to take less blood sugar lowering medication. Under guidance from their medical practitioners diabetics find that they can either reduce their medication or come off it completely. A number of local doctors refer their diabetic patients to us. There has been scientific research that validates the Zone as the best dietary approach to diabetes including an article in the January 2005 edition of the respected international medical journal Diabetologica.
What about alcohol?
We simply count alcohol as carbohydrate and show you how to balance it with meals or snacks
What about exercise?
We have clients who are very pleased with their weight without any formal exercise at all because we use your activity level in our calculations of your food requirements and show you how to eat to allow your body to access body fat for energy.
However exercise is an important part of a healthy balanced lifestyle and it certainly contributes to the benefits of Zone Nutrition. We recommend just 30 minutes brisk walking most days plus we recommend weight bearing exercise to maintain muscle. It is important to not form a judgement about you will feel about exercise until you start eating in the Zone. With the increased energy you should experience from the Zone you may well look forward to exercise and with inproved sleeping patterns you can expect to awake refreshed earlier in the morning giving you more opportunities for exercise. What about holidays?
It is certainly possible to enjoy good food and Zone it in most situations including holidays.
Many clients report that they did not gain weight on holiday because they "sort of did it" while they were away. The most important thing is that when you get back from holiday and back into your normal routines you just pick up your Zone lifestyle again.
What do I get for my consultation or Starter Pack fee apart from the specified components?
The product we are actually selling is knowledge. We give you the knowledge and ability to use the food you eat to bring about dramatic changes in your life. We never charge for this knowledge again, that is why all our ongoing help, support and advice is free of charge.
What is your success rate?
We honestly do not know the answer to this question, we regularly hear from a lot of our clients but others just go away and do it and we may not hear of them again until we get a referral from them as happy clients maybe six months later. What we do know is that if you do it, it works and once you become one of our clients we will never give up on you.
What is discussed at the consultation?
Zone Nutrition requires that we eat food in balance every time we eat. We think that it is very important that you understand why you do this. We don't just tell you to eat a certain way we explain why. We explain how the Zone works and why it works and show you how to switch you body from fat storing to fat burning simply by the way you eat. We also explain why you get some of the many other healthy benefits of Zone Nutrition. Then we "put you in the Zone" with breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner suggestions. We discuss a Zone lifestyle that suits you with lots of tips for Zone balanced breakfasts and snacks, buying lunch, taking lunch, eating out, economy and not cooking different meals from the rest of the family etc.
Will I be able to do it?
The choice is yours but if you do decide to do it we will give you all the help and support you may need. Once you get started the choice to continue is made easy by not only the results you can expect but the fact that you should have increased energy, feel better, look better, sleep better and perform better.
Will I have any problems understanding the Zone concepts?
The good thing about the consultation is that it is personalised to your specific requirements. The Zone can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Will I have to count calories and weigh everything?
Zone Nutrition does not count calories. At the seminar we show you how to balance food with very little measuring and virtually no weighing.
Will I need your free ongoing help?
Most people just go away and do it but some people do need a bit of advice or support from time to time. That is up to you and as a ProZone client you are very welcome to any help we can give you. We are there for you.
